Siding on homes near a century old has weathered hard, with wood that peels and rots and later aluminum that has faded, and behind it these older walls let the drafts through. We tear off the old siding, inspect the aging sheathing for rot the panels were hiding, and add house wrap as a moisture barrier before the new material goes up, working carefully around original trim and finishes.
