I love the old trees out front but the divided-light window hides them. Can a picture window keep that leafy view clear?
That is exactly what it does. A picture window is one uninterrupted pane, so instead of viewing the trees through small squares split by muntin bars, you see the whole canopy at once. If you still want the traditional divided look elsewhere, we can add grilles between the glass on other windows and leave the picture window clear.
Do picture windows open?
No — they’re fixed, which is what makes them so efficient and gives them the biggest glass area. Pair them with casements or double-hungs alongside if you want ventilation.
Are picture windows more energy efficient?
Generally yes. With no operating parts to leak, a triple-pane picture window is the most airtight style we install.
How big can a picture window be?
Quite large — we size them to the wall. For very large openings we may split the glass or add structural mullions, which we’ll cover at the consultation.
