Out in 45238, Covedale's postwar ranches and older brick homes were built on concrete block, with small basement openings set into the wall down at grade. Those original sashes are thin, and decades on plenty are rusted, painted shut, or just easy to push in. On the sloped West Side lots, damp works on those openings too, and the hall bathrooms carry small units that fog along the exterior wall.
We replace those openings with mortared glass block, sealed and flashed against the ground moisture the slopes push in. The daylight still reaches the basement, the view is blocked for privacy, and the panel is far tougher to break through than the sash. Nothing on it rots, warps, rusts, or takes paint. A dryer or operable vent goes in where you need it, and every install is backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty.

For a rusted, painted-shut opening, glass block is the better long-term fix. It replaces the failing sash with a solid mortared panel that never rusts or needs paint, and it still lets daylight into the basement. We can set a vent into it if you need the airflow.
Are glass block windows more secure?
