Can a garden window help a hillside CUF kitchen that faces a retaining wall?
Yes. When a flat window looks straight at a wall or the neighbor's house, a garden window projects out and catches daylight from the top and both sides instead. On CUF's steep 45219 lots that extra light is worth a lot, and the shelf gives you a spot to grow herbs without any yard.
Where do garden windows go?
Almost always over the kitchen sink, where the projecting shelf and extra light do the most good. They can go elsewhere, but the kitchen is the classic spot.
Do garden windows open?
The side panels typically open to vent, while the front and top are fixed glass to hold in heat and let in light.
Are garden windows energy efficient?
