My Taylor Mill windows rattle every time the wind picks up on the hill. Will new double-hungs stop that?
Yes. The rattle comes from loose sashes and a worn meeting rail, both common on older double-hungs up here. A new double-hung seats both sashes tight in a fusion-welded frame with a solid lock at the meeting rail, so they stay put in the wind. Most homeowners notice the house is quieter as well as tighter.
