Pendleton (ZIP 45202) is a small historic arts district against the eastern edge of Over-the-Rhine, full of restored 19th-century Italianate buildings and converted lofts and condos. Those buildings were designed around tall, narrow double-hung windows, and the double-hung proportions still suit the facades. In a mid-1800s building the openings are rarely square, and the old sashes bind, rattle, and leak air through gaps the masonry left behind.

Can you fit a double-hung into an odd-shaped opening in a Pendleton loft?
Usually, yes. These mid-1800s buildings have openings that are out of square and non-standard, so we measure the actual space and build each double-hung to it. That custom fit keeps the seal tight in an old masonry wall, and both sashes still tilt in to clean, which matters when you're several floors above the street.
Are double-hung windows energy efficient?
