Are new double-hungs more secure for a CUF rental near campus?
They are. The sash locks pull the window tight to the frame, far harder to force than a painted-shut or loose old sash, and the fusion-welded vinyl frame is solid. On a busy block near UC that tighter lock is worth a lot, and the sashes still tilt in so a landlord can clean them without a ladder.
Are double-hung windows energy efficient?
Modern double-hungs are. Ours use triple-pane Low-E glass, argon fill, and insulated frames with a tight weatherstrip — a world apart from the drafty single-pane double-hungs they usually replace.
Can I clean them from inside?
