Door Sidelights FAQs
My Forest Park entry has an old single-pane sidelight that's drafty. Can you replace just the glass panel?
Usually we replace the whole sidelight unit, glass and frame together, because a 1960s single-pane panel drafts at the frame as much as the glass. A new insulated Low-E sidelight in a sealed frame stops the draft and keeps the foyer bright. We measure the opening and match the new panel to your door so it looks original to the house, not patched in.
Can I add sidelights to my existing door?
Often yes, if there’s room in the opening — it involves some framing, which we assess at the consultation. Sidelights are also easy to include when replacing the entry door.
Will sidelights hurt my privacy or security?
Not with the right glass. Privacy and obscured options block the view, and laminated or reinforced glass keeps security strong while still letting light in.
Do sidelights come with matching glass?
Yes — we match the sidelight glass to any decorative insert in the door for a coordinated look.
Can I add a transom above the door too?
