Casement Windows in Lower Price Hill

Lower Price Hill packs tight rows of 19th-century workers' houses down in the river flats below the hill. In homes built this close together, a casement's crank-out sash lets you catch cross-ventilation without leaning out over a narrow gangway. Call (513) 657-2471.

Lower Price Hill

Casement Windows for Lower Price Hill homes

The narrow brick and frame rowhouses around State Avenue and English Street in 45204 are among the oldest working-class homes in the city, and many sit only a few feet from the house next door. The original wood windows are drafty and hard to operate, and the tight lot lines mean rooms don't get much air unless the windows open well. Down in the flats near the river and the rail line, damp and dust make the old sashes stick even worse.

A casement suits these tight houses because the sash swings fully open to pull a breeze through even a narrow side yard, and it cranks from inside so you never lean out over the gangway. When it closes, the multi-point lock seals it tight against draft and street dust alike, and the triple-pane glass cuts noise from the nearby rail traffic. The welded vinyl frame stands up to the river damp that rotted the old wood, and our crews size each one to the odd openings these historic homes tend to have.

Casement Windows

The Tightest Seal, the Clearest View

When the sash closes, it locks tight against the weatherstrip — which is why casements post some of the lowest air-leakage numbers in the business. They’re ideal over kitchen sinks and anywhere you want a clear, unobstructed view and easy one-hand operation.

Want the bigger picture? Pair it with replacement windows or a new entry door, and ask about rolling it into one 0%-for-24-months project. For efficiency ratings, the Energy Star program is a good reference.

Best air seal

The sash presses shut against the frame — great for windy Ohio Valley exposures.

Unobstructed view

No center rail, so the whole opening is glass.

One-hand operation

A simple crank opens them wide, even over a counter.

Full ventilation

The sash swings fully open to catch a breeze.

Common questions

Casement Windows FAQs

My house is only a few feet from my neighbor's. Can I still get ventilation from a casement?

Yes, and it is one of the reasons casements work well on tight lots. The sash swings open like a small door and scoops passing air into the room, so even in a narrow gangway you catch more breeze than a slider or a half-open double-hung. You crank it all from inside, no leaning out required.

Are casement windows better than double-hung?

Neither is “better” — they’re different. Casements seal tighter and give a clearer view; double-hungs offer a classic look and tilt-in cleaning. Many homes use both, matched to each room.

Are casement windows good for kitchens?

They’re a favorite over the sink because the crank operates easily even when you can’t reach across the counter, and the wide opening pulls air through.

Do casements come with screens?

Yes, screens mount on the interior side since the sash swings out. Triple-pane glass and financing options are available on every casement.
