How much interior depth does a bay add to a Taylor Mill ranch?
A standard bay projects roughly a foot to sixteen inches past the wall, which is enough for a real seat board or a deep plant and display ledge. On a smaller ranch front room that reads as a noticeable bump in usable space and light. We'll measure the wall and show you exactly how far the unit will step out.
What’s the difference between a bay and a bow window?
A bay is three windows — a picture window flanked by two angled units — for a boxier projection. A bow uses four or more equal units curved into a gentle arc. Bays feel bolder; bows feel softer.
Can a bay window replace my old picture window?
Often, yes — it’s a popular upgrade. It does involve exterior work to build the projection and flashing, which we scope and price at the free consultation.
Are bay windows drafty?
Old ones were, usually from poor flashing. We insulate and flash the projection properly and use triple-pane glass, so a new bay seals as tight as any other window.
