Can you swap the flat picture window in my Landen split-level for a bow?
Yes. We take out the flat window, add proper header support, and set the bow so its curved run of equal panes projects over a cabled, insulated seat board. You gain even light across the room and a real ledge, with the whole unit flashed and insulated so it won't draft.
What’s the difference between a bay and a bow window?
A bay is three windows — a picture window flanked by two angled units — for a boxier projection. A bow uses four or more equal units curved into a gentle arc. Bays feel bolder; bows feel softer.
Can a bay window replace my old picture window?
Often, yes — it’s a popular upgrade. It does involve exterior work to build the projection and flashing, which we scope and price at the free consultation.
Are bay windows drafty?
Old ones were, usually from poor flashing. We insulate and flash the projection properly and use triple-pane glass, so a new bay seals as tight as any other window.
