My Monroe home is only from the 90s. Why would the basement windows already need replacing?
First-generation vinyl basement hoppers from the 90s are now 25 to 30 years old, and the insulated glass seal and weatherstrip wear out on that timeline. On a lot of 45050 builds you'll see fog between the panes or feel a draft along the sill. Replacing with a triple-pane hopper gives you a fresh seal and better insulation than the original ever had.
What is a hopper window?
A window hinged at the bottom that tilts inward at the top to open. It’s the standard style for basement and other small below-grade openings.
Do hopper windows keep water out?
When closed they seal tight against the frame. We also flash the opening properly so wind-driven rain and ground moisture stay outside.
Can hopper windows be an egress exit?
Standard hoppers are usually too small for egress. If you need a code-compliant basement egress window, we can spec one — just ask at the consultation.
