Basement Hopper Windows FAQs
We finished our Hyde Park basement but the old windows still fog and feel cold. What fixes that?
The single-pane glass in those original hoppers is almost always the culprit. Swapping to a triple-pane Low-E hopper with argon fill stops the condensation and the cold radiating off the glass, and the fusion-welded vinyl frame won't rot behind your new finished walls. What is a hopper window?

Do hopper windows keep water out?
When closed they seal tight against the frame. We also flash the opening properly so wind-driven rain and ground moisture stay outside.
Can hopper windows be an egress exit?
Standard hoppers are usually too small for egress. If you need a code-compliant basement egress window, we can spec one — just ask at the consultation.
