My Batavia home is over a hundred years old with stone basement walls. Can you fit a hopper to that?
Yes. Old stone and block openings are rarely square, which is exactly why we measure and build custom rather than force in a stock size. We fit the vinyl hopper to your opening and seal around it so an irregular old wall still gets a tight, weatherproof window.
What is a hopper window?
A window hinged at the bottom that tilts inward at the top to open. It’s the standard style for basement and other small below-grade openings.
Do hopper windows keep water out?
When closed they seal tight against the frame. We also flash the opening properly so wind-driven rain and ground moisture stay outside.
Can hopper windows be an egress exit?
Standard hoppers are usually too small for egress. If you need a code-compliant basement egress window, we can spec one — just ask at the consultation.
